The average
high-point return among 23 small cap value Top Ideas hits 425%.
The first six months of 2020 and 2021 were
very similar periods for small cap investors. In both years, growth stocks had
a great start, but then momentum turned against most small cap companies, this
year particularly in the technology sector. But, if history repeats itself,
like in 2020, small cap stocks might have a very strong second half of the year
(again).
So far in
2021, Investorfile added one new small cap value stock pick to its list of Top
Ideas: Noble Iron Inc. (TSXV: NIR). This company’s stock price has performed
well ever since we published our introduction and subsequent update blog posts,
although trading volumes are still low, for now.
Most notable during the first six months
of 2021 is that many of our Top Ideas had stock prices that traded at all-time
highs. The high-point (highest stock price close) return combined for all of our
Top Ideas since the Investorfile blog was launched has grown to an impressive
425%, representing the average upside gain over all 23 stocks we have selected
to date.
At the mid-point for 2021, the current
total average return since inception of the Investorfile blog stands at 277%
overall for our stock selections. Despite the softness in the small cap market
over recent months, our current returns are still modestly higher when compared
to the beginning of this year. We also note that no stock on Investorfile’s
list of Top Ideas has a negative return.
